He succeeds Joseph Sparacio at the giant-screen exhibitor.
Imax on Monday said it has appointed former Sotheby’s and Goldman Sachs & Co. exec Patrick McClymont as its new CFO, replacing Joseph Sparacio, who is stepping down from the post after nine years.
McClymont was most recently executive vp and CFO at Sotheby’s, and before that a partner and managing director at Goldman Sachs. In his new role at Imax, he will oversee financial strategy and operations as the giant-screen exhibitor continues to expand internationally.
Imax said Sparacio helped in the search for a new CFO after indicating “his interest to pursue other opportunities,” and will remain with the company through November during a transition. McClymont joins Imax as it makes a big push into China, virtual reality and working with big-name Hollywood directors.
“Given our tremendous international growth and our focus on new business initiatives, I am delighted to have someone of Patrick’s caliber join Imax to lead our financial team,” Imax CEO Richard Gelfond said in a statement.
Before working at Goldman Sachs for 15 years, McClymont secured an MBA from the Amos Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College and a bachelor of science degree from Cornell University.
Sparacio joined Imax in 2007 and helped spearhead a transition from film to digital projection and joint venture theaters.
